How you learn

Based in our Sheffield Business School, you’ll join a global community where business leaders, researchers and business students all come together to solve problems and make things better.

Course Topics

To be a successful global business leader, you need insights from differing professional and sector perspectives. On this MBA programme, you’ll study alongside people from a range of industries and sectors, which enables you to share ideas and experiences

You’ll gain knowledge, skills and expertise across marketing, strategy, leadership, people, finance, operations and business research. You can also develop specialist knowledge in areas such as sustainability, internationalisation, disruptive technology, EDI and crisis response.

You’ll also develop your personal and professional abilities as you engage with reflective practice to develop your self-awareness alongside career planning.

We think the best way to learn something is to do it in the real world. That means putting learning into practice on placements, internships and real-world consultancy projects – arranged through our global network of leading businesses.

Placements

You’ll have the opportunity to go on a work placement for up to 12 months, where you’ll apply academic theory and your skills in a real-world setting. This hands-on experience will enhance your professional development and help you to make informed career choices after graduation. We’ll support you to source a placement that is relevant to your course. Throughout your placement, you’ll be supported to reflect on your experience and contribution to the organisation you work for. You'll also share your progress and achievements with your Placement Academic Supervisor as part of your final assessment. 

Live Projects

We bring the 'real' business world into your learning experience through the use of live case studies. Together, we’ll analyse organisations, explore the challenges they face and discover what makes them successful. 

You’ll also have the opportunity to work with leading businesses on client-sponsored projects that are aligned to your professional interests and ambitions.

Networking Opportunities

During the course you’ll be able to develop shared learning, business contacts and networking opportunities through your workplace experiences, peers, teaching staff and industry experts. 

You’ll also be encouraged to attend networking events from leading organisations, such as The Institute of Leadership.

Field Trips

We aim to organise company visits where you can experience the real-world application of taught concepts. 

You’ll also be able to attend guest lectures from business leaders and senior managers who provide unique insights into business and management.

Equipment and facilities

You’ll engage in learning across our Extended Campus which includes flexible physical and digital spaces to support applied learning, working, teaching and collaborating. On campus in Sheffield, our Business School will be your home space – with areas to meet peers, complete course activities and meet staff and employers. 

A variety of physical small and large group teaching settings will be used. Digital learning will be used alongside on-campus learning, including our Virtual Learning Environment, digital media, online teaching and collaboration tools.

 

Entry requirements

You need a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent.

If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in all skills, or a recognised equivalent. If your English language skill is currently below this level, we recommend you complete a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve the required English level.

We assess applications on merit and we can advise you about this process before you apply. If you are unsure whether you meet these requirements then we recommend that you contact us for guidance.

If you do not have such academic qualifications we may consider your application individually, based on your personal, professional and work experience, and other formal qualifications. You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam. Find out more
