This course is perfect if you’re fascinated by the future of digital marketing, where customer experience is becoming the foundation on which products and services are developed. You’ll develop your skills as a marketing professional with a strategic mindset, gaining a solid foundation in digital marketing techniques and platforms to support overarching marketing strategies.
How you learn

We aim to develop your confidence, creativity and resilience over the duration of your course via core and elective modules. We’ll help you develop attributes such as enterprise, global awareness and responsible management. You’ll have chances to engage in different forms of work experience in each year of your studies, ranging from live business projects through to short placements.

Work placements

You’ll have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your second and third years. This is typically 48 weeks long and gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Due to our strong relationships with regional, national and international employers, we can help you secure a great placement opportunity and support you while you’re there. Previous marketing students have gained placements at companies such as IBM, Adidas, Marks & Spencer and Disney.

Live projects

You’ll experience work-based projects in each year of your course, increasing your knowledge, skills and attributes to prepare you for graduate-level employment. These will be a mixture of live client briefs and short placements. You can also pursue your own business initiative, subject to approval.

Networking opportunities

We’re one of the few universities in the UK to have a student Marketing Society linked to the Chartered Institute of Marketing. This is a student learning community that complements and enhances your academic studies, and allows you to link up with local professionals. They also run regular events with local and national employers.

All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.

You’ll learn through a blended learning approach combining tutor-directed study and student-led exercises and activities, and will be taught by tutors who have real-world experience in different sectors of business. You’ll undertake modules that give you a firm grasp of the foundations of marketing and research, as well as an introduction to the world of digital marketing and the more strategic aspects of digital communications. This will set you apart when it comes to seeking placements in the industry.

You learn through
